What a lovely fly-in weekend in big-sky country at Wag-'n-Bietjie Wild. A well-kept gravel landing strip accommodated LSAs and also a Cirrus. Accommodation was luxurious, and included a sparkling dam with splendid views, and a boma where we relaxed around a fire and under a million stars, the aircraft safely anchored within walking distance. A game drive allowed us to view a wide variety of game and both grassland and Karoo bird species. Although we did not, the lodge caters for hunters (some prize trophies are on offer, we were told) and there is on-site a fully operational butchery and refrigeration room. If you like isolation, peace and quiet in unspoilt nature, this is your destination..
